I remember Sam as a gentle man who always had a kind word for everyone he came in contact with. He was a good example for all who knew him as a man who lived with integrity and served his county in a very difficult time. God bless his family!
We are sorry for your loss: As you celebrate Mr. Selby’s life, remember that Almighty God cares for you and will comfort you (1 Peter 5:7, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4): and we have hope such as at Isaiah 33:24 and 25:8 that soon all sickness and death will be no more- Revelation 21: 4. We know that all the promises of God come true. (Numbers 23:19)
Brother Sam was a typical WW II soldier, esp. one from the Battle of the Bulge, totally unassuming, totally a true lover of the LORD & the brotherhood of the LORD's Church.
The last time I saw him, was in Little Rock & his final words to me was tell everybody a church & at Greenbrier I sad hello & I miss them.
He was, like the rest of "The Greatest Generation Ever", those who grew up in the Great Depression & who fought in WW II, whether in Battle or fighting for & sacrificing for the War effort on the home front always an inspiration to those of us who the GOOD LORD allowed the privilege & honor of knowing him.
As the son of parents in that generation & the son of one of the original "Flying Tigers" of WW II; (in my case, 72nd Airdrome Squadron, 1st Air Commando Group, 10th AAF, CBI Theater of Operation) I can without reservation. & on behalf of a greatful nation & members of the LORD's Body..........
Brother Sam.....you shall be greatly missed by those of us who came to know you & sit together while listening to THE WORD being taught.
Fair well for now my brother, fair well.
