To the family of Alton Scott:
I met Mr. Scott about 3 years ago at Brookdale where my late step-father George Evatt was also a resident there. I instantly became very fond of Mr. Scott because he was so kind and gentle and always had a smile for you regardless of how bad he felt that day. Never heard him complain about anything. My mom often took him some fruit or ran an errand for him if he needed something. If you knew him...you automatically loved him! The last time I visited him he had been moved to rehab at Heritage where some of his friends celebrated his 100th birthday with him. My mother and I went to this event and I'm so thankful I was able to be there with him for his special day. I took pictures and will keep them forever. The last thing I said to Mr. Scott was that I loved him, and I wanted him to know that every time I see him, I think of Jesus. After spending time with Mr. Scott it makes one realize that- if the character of all people in this world were anything close to what his character was, this would be a better, more loving, and Christ-like place to live. Wow, what an "honor" to have met this man, even if for such a short period of time. Mr. Scott, you impacted my life profoundly, and make me want to strive to be a better person. I will miss seeing you "Mr. Alton", and thank you for your service to this country. You will always have my deepest respect sir!! Rest in Peace my friend.

I didn't know Mr. Scott personally, but want to thank him so much for his service to this country. There aren't many "hero's" like him left. RIP.
