Thomas Andrew Johnson, 78, of Conway, Arkansas passed away May 31, 2017. He was born to James W. Johnson and Tressie Jones Johnson, on September 26, 1938.

He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, JoAnn Johnson; one son, Michael A. Johnson and one daughter, Lisa Johnson Free; one sister, Leverne Johnson and one brother, James D Johnson; grandchildren, Cameron Cain and Brandi Ring; great grandchildren, Jonathan Cain, Madison Cain, Mackenzie Ring, and Bryce Ring.

Thomas graduated from Conway high school, obtained a Baccalaureate and Master's degree from Arkansas state teacher's college (UCA). He was a teacher and coach for 20 years at Pulaski County Special School District. He was a veteran and served for 29 combined years in the Air Force and Arkansas National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and sports.

The majority of his time was spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren exploring nature and wildlife. As a teacher and coach, he impacted many lives and was an example to others of what service and duty to your country and community meant. He will be greatly missed.

There will be a visitation at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas on Saturday morning, June 3, 2017, beginning at noon. Mr. Johnson's service will follow the visitation at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Conway, Arkansas.

I graduated from sylvan hills in 1972. I had the privilege of playing under coach’s guidance and leadership for two years. I am sorry to hear of his passing and apologize for taking this long in responding. He was a fine man and a good coach.
