Jean Ekedal

of Lake Zurich, IL

July 16, 1922 - February 26, 2017

Jean Ekedal, 94, passed away on February 26, 2017. Her husband, Norman,
preceded her in passing. She is survived by her children, Larry Ekedal and wife,
Diane of Collierville, Tennessee, Sue Schurmann and husband David of
Barrington, Illinois, Kathy Peterson and husband, David of Burnsville, Minnesota.
Jean is also survived by eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Jean graduated from Zumbrota High School, Minnesota in 1940 and then
went to a business school to become a bookkeeper. Jean and Norman were
married in New York City in 1943.
Jean was a loving and caring follower of Jesus Christ which she
demonstrated in many ways. She taught in children's Sunday school, young
peoples Sunday evening group and Solid Rock Bible Camp. Jean had sewing
and craft skills that she used to make clothing and accessories. These items
were used in ministry outreaches in the US, Mexico and Brazil. She loved her
husband, Norman, and they were married for 71 years. She also loved and
sacrificed for their three children. All her children have many wonderful memories
of their mother. She will be missed at the Eastside Baptist Church where she was
a member and touched so many lives.
Funeral Services for Jean will be held Saturday, March 11, at 1:00 PM at
Eastside Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Crawford officiating. Visitation will
be from 11:00 AM until the service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church
