Norman Victor "Vic" Hyde, Jr., longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL passed away November 10, 2016. Vic was born in Helena, Arkansas, January 12, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman V. Hyde, Sr. and Mildred Jarman Hyde. He was recently preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Willie Hyde.

He attended Georgia Tech and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1955 he married his beautiful bride, Willo Horton Hyde. He also started his career with Houghton Chemical Corp, providing sales and service to the pulp mill industry across the southeast.

He was a longtime member of the Seminole Canoe Club and Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. He had a passion for hunting, football, and boxing. After retirement he maintained an active lifestyle, engaging with friends old and new. If you knew Vic Hyde, you have known a generous southern gentleman.

He is survived by his children Whit Hyde (Karen), Stan Hyde (Suzette), and Amy Hyde, all residing in Jacksonville. He is also survived by his uncle Amos Jarman (Virginia) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Grandchildren Whitley, E. Walker, and Krystale, all of Jacksonville; niece Amy Jarman Adkin (Alec), and their children, of California.

The family is extremely grateful to the many friends, extended family, and neighbors who have offered their love and support during this time.

Vic will be buried with a graveside service at the family plot in Maple Hill Cemetery, Helena, Arkansas, on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service
from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
