Jackie Eugene Milam entered his eternal rest in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
Jackie Eugene was born March 3 1928 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. He Married Pauline Gaskins and their marriage of 68 years was a sweet, devoted partnership
.Jack farmed and worked at a saw mill until he moved his family to Helena, Arkansas in 1958 to work for the Royal Crown Bottling Co.
Jack served in the Arkansas National Guard Reserve from 1955-1959. He then joined the Helena Police Department in 1968 and was Police Chief for 5 years. He retired in 1988. He served as security guard at Phillips Community College where he retired in 1993. He served as Bailiff with The Phillips County Sheriff Department until his retirement in 2004 due to health reasons.
Jack enjoyed riding horses, building buggies, camping and traveling. He loved to take his children and grandchildren on rides
Jack and Pauline were members of First Assembly of God Church in Helena. They moved to Mobile, Alabama in January 2010 to be near their son Danny and his wife Mary. They moved their membership to Moffett Road Assembly of God Church in Mobile.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Emmett F. Milam and Lula Pitts Milam; brothers, Maurice, Forrest and Jerry Milam; sisters, Helen Milam Pilcher, Joyce Milam Andrews and Mary Ann Milam. One daughter, Carolyn Milam Hammond and a grandson, Stephen Guthrie.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Milam of Mobile, Alabama; two sons, Danny Milam (Mary) of Mobile and Tim Milam of Helena; a daughter Chris Milam Hawkins (Rickey) of Marks Mississippi. He had 6 grandchildren; Chad Hammond, of Lumberton, North Carolina; Kyle Hammond of Brandon, Florida, Jackie Milam of Mobile, Felicia Milam Johns (Billy) of Mobile, Hunter Hawkins of Marks, Mississippi, Mandy Hammond Layman (Zack) of Oviedo, Florida; one son-in-law, Randy Hammond of Melbourne, Florida. Five great grandchildren, Daisy and Dusty Johns, Myra and Caden Layman and Landon Guthrie. Two brothers, Don Milam (Martha) and Emmett Milam (Paula) of Cherry Valley, Arkansas, two sisters, Bobby Jean Milam Parker of Harrisburg, Arkansas and Margett Milam Mann of Atlanta, Georgia.
Services will be Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 A. M. at Roller-Citizens Chapel in West Helena .Arkansas. Visitation will be from 9:00 A. M. 11:00 A. M. also at the Chapel. Jack and my dad (AG Seaton ) grew up in Cherry Valley together. I have known him and his family all of my life practically. He was a fine man and a good friend. He will missed by all. The Milam family will be in my prayers .

Ms. Pauline, you and Mr. Jack were such great neighbors for so many years on College Street in Helena. We were saddened when you moved and now even more so with Mr. Jack's passing. The kids and grand kids loved to play with the horses. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
