Roberta Ruth (Howell) Brown, 99, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, in Paris. She was born December 9, 1918 in Whitesboro, Oklahoma to her parents James R. and Roberta E. (Fretwell) Howell.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mandel R. Brown, her second husband Mack M. McGibboney; her son James M. Brown, daughter Jan Marlene (Brown) Kendall, brother James R. Howell, sisters Mary Jane Payne and Dorothy Dell Krone.

She is survived by her son Russell D. Brown and wife Sandy of Paris, and daughter Patty Brown Coughlin and husband Frank of Fremont, New Hampshire, a son-in-law Dr. Juneus Kendall of Paris, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Roberta lived in Paris 40 years and graduated from Paris High School in 1936. She was homecoming queen in her senior year. She also enjoyed music, creating beautiful clothing for her family and playing bridge. She was the owner of the The Fashion Shop on the square, and she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was active in the Methodist Church as a pianist and Sunday School teacher as well as a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. Roberta retired in Mabank, Texas and lived there 35 years before returning to Paris in 2015. After her return she joined the First Christian Church and also enjoyed attending the Paris Senior Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Paris with the Rev. H.C. Varnadore officiating. Burial will be private in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

I enjoyed visiting with her at the center when I lived in Paris.

Russell, Sandy & Family,
