Craig Ford

of Scranton, AR

July 29, 1942 - August 23, 2018

Craig Ford, 76, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, in the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Craig was born in Berkeley, California July 29, 1942 to his parents, Walt & Betty Ford. After graduating from Durham High School, he married Frieda Mausser. Their love, patience, and devotion to each other sustained them through all of life's ups and downs for fifty-six years. His first job cutting meat at the Durham Locker began a long career in the food industry. He worked for Del Pero Mondon Meat Co. in Marysville, California, then was transferred to Booneville, Arkansas to help open and manage production in a new DPM facility. Through the years, he remained friends with his former colleagues and often reminisced about the great times they had while employed with DPM. Craig managed Hank's Fine Furniture store in Springfield, Missouri until a job opportunity with a meat processing company led him to move to Quad Cities, Illinois. He later worked for Waugh Foods in Peoria, Illinois, from which he retired. Craig & Frieda then moved back to "the cabin" on Dublin Bay in Scranton, Arkansas. Being an accomplished woodcarver and fond of working with cotton wood, he often created ornaments and Swedish spoons as handmade gifts. He was a kind and affectionate man that made friends quickly with everyone he met. He would rarely turn down an invitation to play golf, but most often, he would be found fishing on Dublin Bay. Above all else, he adored his family; they were the center of his life. Craig enjoyed spending countless hours talking and laughing, singing and dancing with each of them. He especially enjoyed polka and swing dancing with his wife and their close friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We love you, our husband, dad, grandpa and friend. Our lives will not be the same without you.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, of fifty-six years, Frieda (Mausser) Ford of the home; son, Christopher Ford and wife, Jackie (Simon) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Corry Ford and partner, Chad Buckwalter of Quad Cities, Illinois; five grandchildren, Tyler Ford and wife, Carly, Ryan Ford, Jordan Ford and wife, Kayla, Bethany Ford, and Ethan Ford; one great-grandson, Hugo Ford; two sisters, Susan Grissom of Chico, California and Becky Wilson of Ramseur, North Carolina; two brothers, Mark Ford and Matt Ford both of Chico, California; friend and mother-in-law, Peppi Mausser of Scranton, Arkansas, formerly of Durham, California; siblings-in-law Pat and Erna Harman of Paradise, California.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Roller Funeral Home, Paris, Arkansas.

A Private burial will be at a later date at Wares Chapel Cemetery near Scranton, Arkansas.

Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home, Paris, Arkansas.

Frieda, just watched yours & Craigs happy life on the video. Even though it’s hard to lose him, I’m so glad to see you two had a wonderful life. I lost my husband 6 years ago & still grieve, but remember the happy times every day. Wish we could have got together at some of the reunions. They are still going on each May, but fewer & fewer classmates each year. My thoughts & prayers are with you & the family during this difficult time.
