Jerry Wewer, 73, a resident of Scranton passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, in Little Rock.
He was born January 23, 1944, in San Diego, California to the late William C. ''Pete'' and Martha Lucille (Yarbrough) Wewer. Jerry married Carolyn Gattis on October 12, 1963, in Scranton. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron for over 30 years as an industrial painter. Jerry loved drag racing cars at Centerville Dragway and was known as ''The Sage of Scranton.''
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, David Wewer.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Wewer of Scranton; a son, Jerry Wewer, Jr. of Scranton; three daughters, Patricia Murray of Scranton, Sandy Sims and husband, Travis Tebben of Scranton and Carla Koch and husband, Mike of Scranton; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Wewer of New Blaine and Bessie Lee and husband, Terry of Wichita, Kansas; four brothers, Danny Wewer and wife, Charlotte of Oxford, Mississippi, Gene Wewer and wife, Sandy of Batesville, Mississippi, Eugene Wewer and wife, Patty of Clarksville and Bob Wewer and wife, Judy of Scranton and a sister-in-law, Shirley Wewer of Ozark.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Prairie View under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers will be Tony Rogers, Tracy Rogers, John Norman, Matthew Frederick, Eric Foster and Wayne Stiles. Bobby Snow, Randy Rogers, William ''Dub'' Hamilton and Larry Sory will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
