Cecil Chandler, 93 of New Blaine, Arkansas passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, in Little Rock. He was born on June 26, 1923 in Coal Hill to his parents Jeff Dewey Chandler and Essie (Cauthern) Chandler.

Cecil was a lieutenant for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for 37 years; he worked in the Coal Mines in Paris, and was a firefighter. Cecil served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and was a member of the New Blaine Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Essie Chandler; a grandson Robert Gene Gosnell, five brothers Bobby Joe, Reuben Dean, Ozeal, Harlen, and Paul O. Chandler and a sister Bessie Janette Quinlan.

He is survived by his daughters, Diane Chandler Crawford and husband Gunny and Sherrie Chandler and companion Dale Kinder, all of New Blaine; one stepson Curtis Lee Hensley and wife Pat of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister Helen Schepcoff of Stockton, California; two grandsons GNRY SGT. USMC Jeffery R. Lavaughn Chandler of Okinawa, Japan and Dana Williams; two granddaughters Louella Titto and Nancy Ann Hensley; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held March 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the New Blaine Church of Christ.

Burial will be held at the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith on March 22, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Wade, Daniel Bowen, L.D. Stroud, GNRY SGT. USMC Jeffery R. Lavaughn Chandler, Trey Keith, Jarrett Keith and Mary Ware.

While employed with the California Department of Correction Cecil Chandler was my supervisor on many occasion. Looking back I found him to be one of my favorites. He supported me when I needed to be supported. He taught me how to supervise tuff inmates. I always appreciated him. My condolences to his family.

My heart is with you Sissy. I never met your dad but have always known how very much he meant to so many people. Brooklyn and I are praying for you and your dear family. I pray that you know that he is at peace and dancing and laughing and enjoying heaven. I hope he meets my son and gives him a momma hug for me. Love you and Gunny so very much!!

So sorry for your loss! This dude was a dandy! When I worked for Bank of the Ozarks he use to come in and bring us a big bag of Hershey's kisses. I sure did like him!
