Louise Adcock

of Sherwood, AR

October 9, 1920 - January 28, 2018

Louise Adcock, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2018. She was born to the late Robert and Maddie Haynes on October 9, 1920 in Morgantown, Kentucky.

Louise was the eldest of 10 siblings, born in the Blue Hills of Kentucky. She lived during the great depression which was a hard life as a sharecroppers daughter. She met the love of her life while working at a small store in town; Harley E. Adcock and they married in Heber Springs in 1942. When her husband was drafted into the military, she moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas and took a job at the Ammunitions Plant in town. She was a devoted and honorable military wife, doing her duty at the home front while her husband served his country. After the war, she and Harley moved to Rose Bud, Arkansas and were blessed with three wonderful children; Linda born in 1945, Jean born in 1946 and Wayne born in 1947. The family then moved to Little Rock, where Louise took a job with Westinghouse, with whom she stayed till she retired at the age of 62. She was known as the ''Rock'' of the family. A strong willed and sometimes stubborn woman. But who loved deeply. After her retirement, her children fondly recall how she loved to read, go on walks with friends and gardening, which she took great pride in her immaculate flower beds and how she made neat little rows of vegetable gardens in her backyard. Many can recall the sweet flavor of her famous jellies and jams that she made from scratch. Louise was a tiny woman, who had the will of a giant, having survived cancer three times in her life. A woman to be admired, remembered and honored.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Maddie Haynes, her beloved husband; Harley E. Adcock and her beautiful granddaughter; Natalie Rachelle James.

She is survived by one son; Harley Wayne (Vicki) Adcock of North Little Rock, two daughters; Linda Carolyn James of Sherwood and Gloria Jean Clark of San Antonio, Texas, six grandchildren; David Wayne Adcock, Archie Lee Davenport, II, Stephanie Renee (Michael) Batson, Brandi Bethany Mieger, Nicholas Randall James, six great-grandchildren; Brandon Charles (Diana) Snelson, Dani Nicole Castaneda, Jackson Alexander Snelson, Laura Nichole Snelson, Aiden Scott Mieger, Hudson Kyle Mieger, one great-great-grandchild; Taylor Elizabeth Snelson, four sisters, five brothers and a host of extended family.

My deepest condolences to the family & friends for
your loss. May God wrap you in his loving arms. and
give you peace & comfort in the days ahead.

I met Louise when she was at Linda's house & would
be out for her walk in the neighborhood. She was a
sweet, pretty lady and I enjoyed talking with her very
much. She loved being in her home & remained
as independent as she could until the day God's
angels took her hand & lead her home.

My prayers will be with you all.
