Virginia Carol Welch

of North Little Rock,

August 22, 1927 - July 8, 2017

Virginia ''Carol'' Welch, 89, of North Little Rock, went to be with her Lord July 8, 2017. She was born August 22, 1927 to Ralph and Victoria Edwards in Beebe. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis ''JC'' Welch and her parents.

Carol loved God and her church family at Levy Baptist Church. With a servant's heart, she volunteered almost 50 years at Memorial Hospital, now Baptist Springhill and she also volunteered at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Carol was of noble character, a homemaker and she was a Brownies and Girl Scout leader. She loved being outdoors, camping on Lake Ouachita with JC and her children. With every meal, she would ask for a ''Fresh Hot'' cup of black coffee. Carol was a very kind and simple person, she loved animals and always fed her scraps to the ''critters'' at home.

Carol is survived by her son, Larry Edward Welch (Jane) of North Little Rock; daughter, Nancy Holsted (David) of North Little Rock; two grandchildren, Brian Welch, Latisha Daniel (Jason); two step-grandchildren, Jeff Holsted (Crystal), Adam Holsted (Crystal); three great-grandchildren, Hailey Daniel, Mary Addison Daniel, Hudson Daniel; and five step-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kobie, Jaci, Dylan and Lauren Holsted.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday July 11, 2017, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Burial to follow at Antioch Cemetery near Beebe. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Slot 661, Little Rock, AR 72202 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

Larry & Nancy~~~ J.C. & Carol...those words just went together. I was saddened to read about Carol's passing, but smiled at all the memories we shared years ago...in my opinion. the definition of a "Class Act" ..... I know she will be missed by many and I am proud to have been able to call her my friend. Prayers to you and your families.....

Carol and I volunteered at Baptist Memorial together for 19 years. My one word description of her would be "classy". She was always impeccably groomed, unfailingly kind and courteous to hospital visitors/patients, and fun to be around. She was a role model for volunteers and women everywhere. My sympathy to her family, hers is a great loss.

Nancy, I have been gone from NLR & Levy for so long but ill never forget your mom's hospitality. How many times did I stay over or eat supper at last minute? She never let on if it was uncomfortable!! Maybe someday we can reminisce of the old days. Its hard to let a parent go. My my deepest sympathy to you & family...

Nancy, so sorry for your loss and your family's. I can remember how close the two of you were. I'm so glad she was here to see you happy and contented with your family that has really grown.
She always reminded me of the true southern lady. Always ready to help in any way possible. I know the pain you're feeling. Just remember she's in a better place than we are right now. She's at peace with the Lord and you'll see her again. Keep her in your heart because you're in hers. Death is hard on the ones left behind but she is happy and peaceful in heaven.
My prayers will be for you and your family. Love you always, Rose

My husband and I have been Carol's backyard neighbors for the past 19 years. In the early years we would gather with several other couples in the neighborhood and play cards. A time or two we went for fireworks on the river. Carol was the sweetest and kindest person you could ever hope to meet. She was a wonderful neighbor and loved to sit a spell if you happened to be passing her house. She never had an unkind word about anyone and would be able to bring you up to date on neighborhood goings on. Rest In Peace Carol. Paul & I will miss you.
