Edith Moffitt Flanagan, age 84, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lewis and Virginia R. Moffitt, and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Bradley, all of Greenville, Mississippi.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles A. ''Buddy'' Flanagan of Sherwood, and many cousins.
Mrs. Flanagan was a retired federal employee, having held secretarial positions at Little Rock and Blytheville Air Force Bases in Arkansas, and Greenville Air Force Base in Mississippi, as well as numerous other locations in earlier years. She graduated from Greenville Mississippi High School (Class of 1950), and attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church of North Little Rock and was for years involved in many activities of the church, including serving as Department Secretary of the Adult and Youth Departments and in the Sanctuary Choir. In earlier years, she also did volunteer work for the NLR Shepherd's Center and CareLink. Mrs. Flanagan (along with her husband) enjoyed being members of the Dancing Razorbacks Square Dance Club for 15 years. She was a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10 A.M., at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be beside her parents at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, Mississippi. Edith was a Classmate of mine from the Class of 1950. Her Nickname among Friends was "Punk".
We were Good Friends and also worked together at the Greenville, MS Air Force Base.
She was a Very Special Lady and a Dear Friend. She will be Missed.
