Carolyn June Pierce

November 19, 1924 - October 24, 2016

Carolyn Palmer Pierce, 91, died Oct. 24 after a long and active life. She was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Little Rock.

She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Pierce; her daughter, Holly Pierce Williams; her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Holland Palmer; and her brother, Dean Morley.

Apart from her family, Carolyn's primary loves in life were the Presbyterian Church and North Little Rock. She was a lifelong Presbyterian, a ruling elder and a Bible study teacher for Presbyterian Women. She attended First Presbyterian Church in North Little Rock in her early years and Park Hill Presbyterian Church many years thereafter.

Carolyn graduated from North Little Rock High School and attended the University of Arkansas. She worked at KARK in Little Rock during its transition to television, and enjoyed years as a school librarian in North Little Rock.

She is survived by granddaughter Emily Greer Williams; grandson Nick Sumbles; former son-in-law Jeff Williams and his wife Kelley Cooper; nephews Dean Morley III and his wife Marcia, Steve Morley and his wife Becky, and Randy Morley; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requested memorials be made to North Little Rock Friends of Animals, 1 Championship Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72118, or the Susan G. Komen Foundation, in the name of Holly Pierce Williams, 1-877-465-6636 option 4 or by visiting ww5.komen.org.

Carolyn will lie in state beginning Sunday, Oct. 30, through Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR (501-791-7400). Friends are encouraged to pay their respects between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on these days. At her request, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 2, at Little Rock National Cemetery, 2523 Springer Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72206.

I loved Carolyn. She was a dear friend. Her daughter, Holly, was my closest and dearest friend during school. We were neighbors for many years and friends longer. God bless her family.
