My sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one. JC trained me on the WSR -57 in 1972 at the WSFO LIT and quickly became a friend. I will always remember how he helped me in my career in the NWS, RIP JC.

Kerry, I am sorry to hear about your dad passing away. I only got to meet him a few times. The 1st time I met him outside of his house and after shaking his hand I ask him sir why do you keep looking down or what are you looking for. He told me he was looking for his tools, he said his sons would borrow a tool and just leave it laying out in the yard. Sure enough we walked a little ways and he picked up a screwdriver, he said see I told you I would find one of my tools. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I worked with JC at the National Weather Service in Little Rock and North Little Rock from 1974 until his retirement. He was one of my first trainers on the WSR-57 weather radar, and the upper air section which launched and tracked weather balloons. I learned a tremendous amount of weather knowledge from him. After his retirement, I saw him frequently in Sherwood, and especially at the Walmart Neighborhood Market. Each time I saw him, we always had a good chat, and usually shared memories of our Weather Service days. He always greeted me as "Doctor", even though I wasn't a doctor, and we would have a good chuckle. May God be with all of his family during this difficult time.

My mother, Elaine Goss, would like to send her sympathy to Mr. Koehler's family. She knew him through First United Methodist Church and appreciated knowing him though briefly. Sincerely, Elaine and Rachel Goss

As a colleague of J.C.'s at the National Weather Service, I enjoyed J.C.'s friendship, knowledge of the weather and his humor. He always had a cheery story or was pleasant just being J.C., to his workmates. Later, as Weather Service retirees. we had a once-a-month luncheon for a few years and J.C. usually attended and all were cheered by his stories and "news" about what he was up to in retirement. I somehow became "Uncle George" and that was how I was greeted when we met. We have lost a kindred soul and lively personality in J.C.
