Jack Seldon, 93, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 of natural causes. He was born in New York City, New York in 1923.

In his younger years Jack studied at the School of Music and Art in NYC, worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Nevada during the depression, and played trumpet with a jazz band. In 1943 he joined the US Navy and served during WWII and the Korean War. He was a medic onboard LST 733 in the Pacific during WWII, where he served during the Battles of Leyte Gulf and Mindoro in the Philippines and the invasion of Okinawa.

After the war he taught ballroom dancing and it was at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio that he met his beloved wife, Elaine. They were married in 1949, later settling in East Patchogue, New York to raise their family of six children.

In 1957 Jack began a 20 year career in law enforcement with the Suffolk County (New York) Police Department which included everything from going undercover for a gambling investigation to delivering babies, chasing monkeys to saving a choking child, and saving a fellow officer who suffered a heart attack.

He thoroughly enjoyed a good game of poker, a round of golf and trips to Florida where he retired in 1974 and lived for 37 years. In 2011 Jack and Elaine moved to Arkansas to live with their daughter Bonnie.

He was much loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 67 years, Elaine Seldon, and his large family. Survivors include his six children: Bonnie Keefe (late husband John), Laurie Stuhlmuller (John), Dawn Huston (Don), Dan Seldon (Marcy), Joanie Turner (Larry Parker), and Michael Seldon (Dawn McManus). His grandchildren are Lani McGloflin (Joe), Jodi Dress (Stephen), Kerri Pennington (David), John Stuhlmuller Jr. (late wife Sarah), Michael Stuhlmuller, Mary Swenk-Totino, Amber Fried, Kristal Giordano (Deren), Ryan Turner, Jamie Turner, and Nikki McManus. Great-grandchildren include Britney, Katie and Sam McGloflin, Mckenna, Sydney and Parker Dress, Tony Totino, Isabella Hall, Bryce and Bree Fried, and Emily Martin.
