Audra Mae Sorrell

of Maumelle, AR

January 9, 1920 - June 5, 2015

Audra Mae Sorrell, 95, went to live eternally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 5, 2015. Mae was born and grew up in Mena, Arkansas. There she worked in the jewelry store owned by her parents, I.E. and Ozie Lindsay, and met her husband of 66 years, Hubert. They lived in different places, including Overland Park, Kansas and Mena, had two daughters, and later moved to North Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Sorrell; her daughter, Renee Robertson; and her sister, Elleta Flick. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Steve) Marshall of Maumelle, Arkansas; son-in-law, Jack Robertson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughter, Marigny (Rich) Klaber of Colorado Springs; great-grandsons Colin and Bryce Klaber of Colorado Springs; nephews Ken (Helmi) Flick of Bedford, Texas and Ron (Karen) Flick of Little Italy, Arkansas.

Mae worked at Price-Fewell /Arkansas Lighting Company as an assistant bookkeeper, but her passion was sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress who loved to make clothes for her daughters, her sister, and herself. She treasured the friendships she made through the Bernina Sewing Club. Mae also had a love of plants which she instilled in both her daughters. For many years she was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church where she established enduring friendships. Later, she joined Park Hill Baptist Church and acquired new friends. The Christian support she received from those relationships helped her get through some very difficult times. Mae will be remembered for her kindness to others and her selfless love for her family.

A memorial service will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home 5509 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock (501-791-7400) Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at 9:30 A.M., 30 minutes before the service.
In lieu of flowers or food, donations can be given to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 or to Baptist Health Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210-2829.

Our hearts go our to you, Nancy. So much grief and responsibility and anguish, all at the same time.

Mae and Renee were such sweethearts-We know how much you must miss them...family is everything. We are so thankful that you have your sweet Steve by your side. Please take comfort in the fact that your mom and sister are together now, and close beside you in spirit as you work through it all. Much love--you are on our prayer list every day.

Tina, Don and Tina's Mom, Porter.--who loved your mother and talked about her so often.

A wonderful neighbor to us when we lived on Vestal Street in North Little Rock, Ar. Mae had a really GREEN thumb and her yard and plants always were so pretty. She and Hubert put up with us, our toy fox terriers, our six grandchildren and myriad other confusion. We loved them and appreciated them. Both were kind and caring friends. Nancy & the rest of Mae's family - we are sad for your loss.
