of Memphis, TN

December 29, 1943 - September 14, 2018

Paul Dexter Laney, 74, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Methodist Hospice Residence. He was born on December 29, 1943 in Canton, MS.

Paul's favorite pastime was to play golf as often as he could. He loved to go out to eat, especially on their many trips to Destin. He couldn't wait to watch his favorite teams play football and basketball but mostly enjoyed going to Memphis Grizzlies games. He also looked forward each morning to walks around his Balmoral neighborhood with his wife, Glenda. He cherished the times he spent with family and friends.

He was a long-time member of Cherry Road Baptist Church, a proud veteran of the US Navy and a FedEx retiree.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda Laney of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Brad (Carol) of Collierville, Tennessee; one daughter, Kimberly Laney of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Ken Laney of Yazoo City, Mississippi; and two grandchildren, Katelyn Laney and Townley Frith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Juanita Laney, and one sister, Frances Pope.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I worked with Paul many years ago at V. Alexander. He was a kind man and had a great sense of humor. My husband, Jeff, who also worked at V. Alexander and is now with FEDEX, and I both thought a lot of Paul.

May you be comforted by God as you go through this difficult time.
Sincerely,

Jan and Jeff Haley
