Dorothy Dean Swafford, 78, of West Memphis, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. She was born April 6, 1939 in Ft. Smith to Leroy Wayne and Lucille Shastid Barlow.
She was a member of the First Baptist which she loved to spend her time serving others. She worked for years in different areas of the community as well as constantly volunteering wherever needed.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and her husband Jimmy Edward Swafford.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Eugene Swafford and Joseph Edward (Leslie) Swafford; two daughters; Victoria Lou Swafford and Tammie Sue Allison; grandchildren, Erin Victoria Swafford, Lindsey Brooke Swafford, Bailey Brooke Swafford and Jordan Heflin.
Burial will be private at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to West Memphis First Baptist Church, 200 N. Missouri St., or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4
(3) "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. (4)
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

Lois and I were so sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Reading Rev. 21:3, 4 and John 5:25 have always brought me comfort, and hopefully will do the same for you.
