Marge Lu Baker of Southaven died Tuesday morning after a long illness.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.Z. Lu.

Marge is survived by three daughters, Helen Baker Wang of Germantown, Tennessee, Grace Taylor of Texas, and Shelby Chi of Michigan. She is also survived by Joe E. Baker of Southaven, Mississippi (her husband for 45 years). Her brother Calvin Lu lives in California. The Bakers have seven grandchildren.

Marge saw the major historic events of the 20th Century. As a girl, she survived attacks by Japanese bombers in WWII. Her family lost much and fled to Taiwan just ahead of the siege of China by the Communists in 1949. Marge's mother was the first woman lawyer in Chinese history. Both of her parents were prominent members of the Chinese Nationalist government.

Marge was a law school graduate and clerked for her mother. Marge was a television program director who worked with Raymond Burr and Steve McQueen.

Marge was also a partner in an international entertainment booking company.

The Bakers were married in Hawaii and lived in Texas, Belgium, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

They were very proud of their family and appreciated their friends.

Marge and her husband Joe were very active in Republican politics, the Catholic Church, Rotary Club, and Mensa.

Marge served 2 terms on the federal Civil Rights Commission. The Bakers traveled to 45 countries.

There will be a visitation for Marge Friday, November 3, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 785 Church Rd. W, Southaven, Mississippi 38671. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with funeral service following at 10:00 AM.

Interment will take place at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas at 2:00 PM.

Memorials can be made to Christ the King Catholic Church building Debt.

Joe, Marge was a wonderful, sweet, outstanding woman. We have many memories to share. I will miss her.
