Christine Marie Westmoreland Sledge was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on October 27, 1919 to Pink Lee and Clara Belle Westmoreland. She was married to Julius T. Sledge in 1940.
Following WWII and her husband's discharge from the service, they moved to Cross County, Arkansas; then Houston, Texas, and Memphis, Tennessee where she was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. In 2003, she began her residence in Westport, Connecticut where she lived to be near her son and family.
She is survived by her son; Joseph and his wife, Darcy; two grandchildren, Kyle and Christopher Sledge; a sister, Bobbie Nell Brown of Wynne; nephew, Gregory Head; and niece, Glenda Bruckner.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Julius T. Sledge of 49 years, her parents, Pink Lee and Clara Belle Westmoreland, and her sister, Virginia Head.
Services for Christine will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 27, 2017 with Reverend Toby Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas.
