of Marion, AR

October 19, 2016

Dawn Ethridge Smith was born June 27, 1961 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Jean and Herman Ethridge. She passed from this life on October 19, 2016. Dawn was a beloved wife and mother; Science teacher with Marion Junior High School for over 26 years. She stood in faith alongside Pastor Michael for 27 years as they dreamed of a life-giving ministry to the Delta that they planted in January, 1989 Victory Church.

Dawn was a generous, deeply caring person whose life influenced thousands of students over the years through her teaching in the school and ministry in Victory Church. Her gentle spirit and caring smile touched multitudes of lives as she led various ministries in the local fellowship over the years the last of which was Victory Chix the women's ministry of the church.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father Herman Ethridge. She is survived by her mother, Jean Ethridge Turnbow (Jonesboro, AR) her husband of 31 years, Pastor Michael Smith (Marion, AR) her two beloved children, the light of her life, Drew Smith (Dallas, TX) and Abbey Smith (Nashville, TN).

Dawn, we love and miss you dearly.

A profound loss to the Cardwell families. I cannot believe that 8 years have passed. Dawn was a refreshing breeze and generous spirit and an eternal mark of God’s grace upon each of us. Her driest of humor surprised… and gave us a glimpse of her love of life and insight of human folly. Her discernment for truth in conversations… legendary. We remember Michael, Drew and Abbey daily and stand with them as they grow in the grace and glory of our redeemer.

Mike our hearts are broken for you and your girls. You and Dawn have been our strength during those hard days when Looney and Buddy were laid to rest. When we could not find the words to express our sorrow you were able to speak our hearts. Dawn's strength and faith meant so much to our family. We love you dearly and we are here for you and yours.

Dawn was a wonderful wife, mother, & friend. It was such a joy to be around her; her quick wit was one of the favorite things I loved about her. My prayers are with her family. Psalms 46:1

We are so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. We know all too well the pain associated with losing a family member in death. We found so much comfort in Gods promises for the future. We encourage you to read verses such as John 5:28, 29 as well as Revelation 21:3, 4. These verses promise us that God will reunite us with our family and friends who we have lost in death by means of an earthly resurrection. Revelation assures us that very soon he will rid this world of all pain, sorrow, and even death. Until his words are fulfilled, may you find comfort from family and friends. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
