Carolynne Curry

of Pangburn, AR

December 24, 1931 - February 10, 2018

Carolynne (Johnson) Curry, known to her friends as "Lynne", peacefully passed away at 86 years young, on Saturday, February 10th, 2018, right where she wanted to be; in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family, close friends and just as important, her "critters" (Chicky, Buffy, Tootsie, Willy and Cissy). Born in Jacksonville, FL, she grew up in Memphis, TN and lived her adult years in North Little Rock and her retirement years in Pangburn. Lynne is survived by her daughter, Susan Grayson of Little Rock, her son, Bill Sowell (and wife Cindy) of North Little Rock and in her eyes, the two most incredible grandchildren; Abby and Evan Sowell, both of North Little Rock. Lynne is also survived by her brother Ted Johson (and wife Joyce) of Memphis, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fern and Theo Johnson of Memphis, TN and the love of her life, Allan Curry of North Little Rock and then Pangburn.

Lynne spent 28 years in the travel industry and then she and Allan built their dream home on the Little Red River where they retired in Pangburn. Her passion was all the animals where she served on the board of the Heber Springs Humane Society for 30 years, the Surgical Center at the Humane Society is named in her honor. She also helped found the Humane Society Thrift Shop in Heber Springs to support the Humane Society. Lynne volunteered at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, served on the Wilburn Fire Department board and was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Heber Springs.

Her beautiful smile touched everyone she met. Her tireless energy served the thousands of animals saved by the Heber Springs Humane Society where her request would be that memorials be sent to the Heber Springs Humane Society at P.O. Box 401, Heber Springs, AR 72543.

Her family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice for their loving care of Lynne and her family. Every staff member demonstrated love, kindness, professionalism and respect in their care for her. We are grateful to all of you beyond words. Memorials can also be made to Arkansas Hospice at 410 N Apple St, Searcy, AR 72143.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at 12noon on Saturday, February 17th at First Presbyterian Church in Heber Springs (1313 West Pine Street) with a reception to follow. All who knew her are encouraged to join and share in the celebration of Lynne's life.

There will be no graveside service.

We met Lynne and Allan when Mother, Emma Lea Blackwood, built a house on River Drive after she retired. It didn’t take long until Mother had met them and started a 30+ year friendship. Lynne was a good neighbor and more importantly a good friend. They shared many visits and pot-luck suppers at Lynne’s church. Her smile and dedication to the Humane Society may be gone, but boy, did she leave us many precious memories.
