Geraldine Richards Jameson

of Bald Knob, AR

December 4, 1923 - October 2, 2017

Geraldine Richards Jameson, age 93, departed this life with grace and dignity on Monday, October 2, 2017. Geraldine was born December 4, 1923, near Bald Knob, Arkansas, the daughter of Willie and Clarice Martin Richards. She was raised there and graduated from Bald Knob High School where she was President of her Senior Class of 1941. She went on to attend Harding College and taught school until her marriage to John Kendrick Jameson, Jr., on December 15, 1943. In their 61 year marriage, they remained loving companions, raising a family while living in Bald Knob, McCrory, and Pine Bluff. Upon retirement, they moved back home to Bald Knob. Wherever they resided, they were active in the United Methodist Church of the community.

While in school, her competitive spirit did not end at academic rigor, as she was known to be an active basketball player, and remained a sports enthusiast for the rest of her life. Geraldine never LET anyone win. You earned it. Ask any of her many bridge partners or grandchildren that she managed to beat at Shanghai, even as a nonagenarian. Her professed handicaps of eyesight and arthritis were nothing more than a ruse to keep you playing. She also enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening, and reading. She looked forward to annual beach vacations and holidays with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Winfred and Weldon, and her twin sister, Montine, and her beloved husband. She is survived by her son, John Kendrick (Ken) Jameson III (Donna), of Little Rock; her son, Gary Jameson (Kay) of Bald Knob; and daughter, Beth Carty (Brian), of Little Rock. She has eight grandchildren; Karen Gordon, Eric Jameson, Christopher Robertson, Megan Sheumaker, Angie Weaver, Loree Pace, Kim Hillis, and Andrew Carty as well as seventeen great grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday, 6-8 p.m. October 5, 2017, at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, Arkansas. Funeral Service will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., October 6, 2017, at Bald Knob First United Methodist Church with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church-UMW Food Bank, 307 West Center, Bald Knob, Arkansas 72010 and Meals on Wheels in your community.

We would like to thank the staffs of St. Vincent Hospital North, Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Cornerstone Hospital of Little Rock for their professional care and compassion in recent weeks. We would also like to thank the State of Arkansas Library for the Blind for their wonderful audiobook program that enriched her daily life so much. Special thanks for the friendship, love, and support through the years from the Knight family.
Geraldine epitomized love, compassion, and caregiving to the end, just ask her last best friend, a four-legged companion named Buzz, that often dominated her concern and attention. And, yes, all dogs DO go to Heaven…

Geraldine was such a sweet, quiet-spoken, loving lady throughout the 53 years I had the privilege of knowing her. This spirit shines through the lives of her children. She is now in her permanent, heavenly home, seeing the face of God and reunited with family. I love you all❤️

My heart is full of such fond memories growing up with your family in a McCrory. In our tight little neighborhood, you were a second mother to me. How I loved you and Mr Kendrick, Ken, Gary and my precious friend, Beth! My prayers are with you all with loving hugs attached.
