of Searcy, AR
October 4, 1956 - September 16, 2017
Carlynn Anguish, 60, passed from this life on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Searcy. She was born October 4, 1956 to Edgar Carylos and Dorothy Sullivan Leverette in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and given the name Connie Carlynn.
She earned a Bachelor's degree in Office Administration from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. Although employed at times in the business world, she worked longer with organizations devoted to Christian service, including adoption and foster care (Georgia Agape); Christian education (Memphis Harding Academy); and world evangelism (Truth for Today World Mission School). This work was more satisfying for her.
Carlynn was a voracious reader who especially enjoyed biographies of our nation's first ladies. She was also an avid and apt Bible student who thoughtfully searched for better understanding of God's word, especially as it relates to life's harder questions, substantive worship, and expressing all our human emotions. She had a particular interest in the Psalms of Ascent (chapters 120-134).
She had a special place in her heart for children, notably those with special challenges. Beginning in her teens, she regularly taught children's Bible classes in multiple churches of Christ. She helped organize and direct children's training programs. She most enjoyed teaching children from fourth to sixth grade, and aimed to help them learn the entirety of the Bible's story. She preferred to write her own curriculum, and spent countless hours searching for teaching aids.
Carlynn was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves her husband of thirty-nine years, David Anguish; son, Jeremy Anguish, and wife, Amy, of Smyrna, Tennessee; son, Nathan Anguish, of Searcy; a sister, Sheryl Irwin, and husband, Ricky, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chloe and Alex Anguish; and seven nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at the White Station Church of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee at 2:30 PM Saturday, preceded by visitation beginning at 1:00.
Visitation and a brief memorial service will also be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the College Church of Christ in Searcy.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her love for children, her family asks that memorials be given to Georgia Agape, 3094 Mercer University Drive, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA, 30341; https://www.georgiaagape.org/.

I'm so sorry to hear of Connie’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW
