Sue Tankersley, 89, of Searcy passed away May 30, 2016. She was born October 7, 1926 in Rogersville, Alabama to the late Dr. J.C. Norwood Sr. and Hattie Norwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hank Tankersley; brother, J.C. Norwood; sisters, Geneva Norwood Boston Baughman and Evelyn Norwood Vinci.
Mrs. Tankersley was a member of the Cloverdale church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas. She was a devoted and faithful ministers' wife. She and her husband Hank served many congregations for over 50 years. In honor of their faithful service to the Lord, the Hank & Sue Tankersley Presidential Scholarship was established at Harding University to aid students wanting to go into ministry. Sue was a loving mother who raised six children. She was an accomplished painter who loved making crafts as well as hosting friends and family. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on some of her favorite teams including the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks.
She is survived by her two sons, Oneal Tankersley (Betsy) of Searcy, Arkansas and Dwane Tankersley (Vickie) of Maumelle, Arkansas; four daughters, Susan Callicott (Jim) of Richardson, Texas, Paula DeYoung (Ed) of Dallas, Texas, Peggy Carlile (Jerry) of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Kathy Nicholas of Searcy, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; also many other loving family members and friends.
The family is planning to have a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kenya Mission Effort, c/o Holmes Rd. church of Christ (1187 E Holmes Rd. Memphis, Tennessee 38116)
