I served in the Marine.
James Harmon Hill, Sr.I am a Veteran.

of Searcy, AR

October 20, 1936 - April 9, 2016

James Harmon Hill, of Searcy, departed this world on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 after a brief illness. Jim was born October 20th, 1936 in Lakeview, Texas to Arthur and Vesta Hill, the third child of six. He is survived by all his siblings: Donnie (Carole) Hill, Margie (Frank) Getman, Carol (Jim) Richardson, Linda Owl, and Debra (Gib) Webb. Jim was married 59 years to the love of his life Carolyn Lee Reed Hill who passed away July 2015. He is survived by their 4 children: Kathy Felton (John), Jim Hill Jr (Debbie), Susan Hill, and Robbie Hill (Andrea) of Searcy; 12 grandchildren: Jaclyn (Dustin) Adkins, Heather (Michael) Glenn, Jimmie (Jamie) Hill, Jacob (Tiffany) Felton, Sara Stewart, Cody (Ashley) Hill, Mandi (Kyle) Keith, Megan (Joe) Gossett, Kelly Harris, Jason (Kacie) Felton, Seth (Kacee) Stewart and Haley (Jacob) Duncan; 17 great-grandchildren: Braeden & Cooper Adkins, Tristan, Emma, & Logan Glenn, James & Joshua Hill, Caleb Felton, Ryann Ross, Ava, Ruby, & Sadie Hill, Candace & Gabriel Gossett, Kayden & Kammy Stewart, and Adelyn Duncan.
Capsulizing Jim Hill's interesting and adventurous life is not easy. As a young Marine he was an exceptional marksman on the Rifle and Pistol Team and was introduced to what would later become a brilliant career in machining. Born an entrepreneur, he seldom devoted himself to a single business and began and operated many successful ventures, often juggling three occupations at once. For example, Jim received his MBA from the University of New Mexico while working fulltime as an engineer at GE, building a mobile home park, buying a ghost town, and inventing what would later become one of three patents. He was never at a loss for an idea or a plan and had the instincts to produce his dreams. He climbed Sandia Mountain alone; gold mined in the Amazon jungle, and rafted the Rio Grande in a partial body cast. He loved stylish cars, math, geology, machining, westerns, history, architecture, and babies. He designed and built his unique and spectacular homes; involved in every detail.
Most importantly, Jim Hill was a loving family man. He modeled a happy marriage, his faith, and principles. He made his family a part of his dreams and was an inspiration who will never be forgotten. We will all miss him very much, but we know our loss is heaven's gain.

Arrangements by Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy. Evening visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13th, from 6-8pm. Afternoon visitation on Thursday the April 14th at 1:00 followed by services at 2:00 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in White County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

My sincerest condolences go out to the whole family. Uncle Jimmy was a wonderful loving man. I cannot find the words to express how I feel and give him the tribute that he deserves. He was someone to look up too. He was the father that I never had. I will be forever grateful for all that Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Carolyn did for our family. We may not have survived if not for them. Now you can eat as much potted meat and crackers as you want. Have one for me. I love you dearly. Forever. Martin & Caserina Hawkins, PJ and Janelle Trujillo and Buddy Owle. Gone but never, never forgotten.
