Paul Dean Waire

of Griffithville, AR

July 8, 1938 - January 14, 2014

Paul Dean Waire, 75 yrs. of Griffithville, AR passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2014 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR.

He was born on July 8, 1938 in Griffithville, AR to Floyd and Jewell (Dill) Waire. He graduated from Griffithville High School in 1956 and began his work career at the missile bases in Searcy, AR and from there, moved on to Chicago to work in construction in the 1960's.

He came back to AR in the early 1970's and began his career with Riceland Foods. He started working at the Des Arc dryer and later became dryer manager at Griffithville. Eventually, the management responsibility of the Des Arc dryer was added. He managed both dryers until his retirement from Riceland Foods on December 31, 1996. Paul was also engaged in farming.

Paul was a simple man, material possessions were not important to him. His most important possessions were his family, his recliner and his remote. He loved to give (unsolicited) advice to the children and grand-children which usually ended in his famous quote, ''I just tell it like it is.''

Paul is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Virginia Thurmond Waire of Griffithville, one brother, Charles (Shirley) Waire of Cabot, AR, daughters Lyndia (Eddie)Morris of Mayflower, AR, Tonya Pachecho of Garner, AR, Ginger Price and Tonya (Billy) Tucker of Beebe, AR, and one son, Kevin DeVore of Beebe, AR. He is also survived by 12 grand- children, 9 great grand-children and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, AR on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6-8pm and the funeral service will be on Friday January 17, 2014 at Roller-Daniel at 10 am. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens, Searcy, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either First Baptist Church of Griffithville, AR Children's Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital or their favorite charity.

I was so sorry to read about Mr. Paul's passing in the newspaper. My thoughts and prayers go out to Virginia, Ginger, Tonya, and Kevin. I worked one season at the dryer with Mr. Paul and he was such a nice man. I know he will be missed.

Virginia I was saddened when I learned that Paul had been hospitalized and so sorry that he is gone. He was fine man and I always enjoyed bumping into him. Everybody in this part of the country remembers him fondly and that is tribute that some men can't claim.

Charlie, you have lost a great brother and I want to wish you well. I hope to see you at visitation or the funeral service but if not please know that Paul will be missed in the Des Arc community.

Sincerely,

Harvey Joe Sanner
