Ernest Harding Salkeld, Sr., 91, of Searcy, Arkansas passed away on December 11, 2013 with his family and friends by his side. He was at peace and recently said, ''When Jesus is ready, I know he'll be waiting for me at the corner''. Ernest was retired from the Postal Service and served in the Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E L Salkeld and Edna Galloway Salkeld, brothers Frank and Wilmer Salkeld, sisters Maxine Clough and Juanita Churchill. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 71 years, Reva Nell Salkeld; son, Ernest H Salkeld Jr (Sandra), sister, Amy Brooks, granddaughter, Cassie Weaver (Michael) and great grandchildren, Noah and Grace Weaver.
Ernest was a long time member of First United Methodist Church. ''PeeWee'' as he was fondly called by family and friends enjoyed serving others and putting a smile on their face. He was active in several organizations, including Shriners, Woodmen of the World, White County Hospital Volunteers, in varying capacities including President, as well as serving on the White County Fair Board.
My dearest sympathy is extended to Reva Nell and Ernest Jr and all the family.
What an UNCLE. He was a bright light shining through our life. It was so much fun when Uncle Ernest was with us at all the reunion, weddings, all the fun times. He always made us laugh.
I'm smiling now just thinking of him, because he is now at the biggest gathering of all....
My entire family was blessed by PeeWee and Reva Nell. What a happy, sweet man and what a blessing to so many. Ernest, I wish peace for you at this time; knowing your dad is in heaven will be a comfort but I know you will still miss him mightily. He was a man not easily replaced.
When Ernest, Jr. married my sister, Sandra,
we welcomed PeeWee and Reva Nell into our
family and what a blessing they have been.
He added fun and laughter to our family get-togethers. PeeWee was a great example of what
a husband and friend should be. We cherish the memories we have of a kind and gentle man.
Ernest, you were a special brother in-law and I shall miss you greatly.
I will always treasure the great family reunions, birthday parties, just about any reason to get the family together.I never felt like an in-law but just one of the kids.
We extend our love and sympathy to the family.

Ernest was a wonderful uncle and one that will be terribly missed. I will forever remember his dancing, teasing and laughter. As we were growing up, it was always a treat to go to the parades and watch him ride horseback. I have many wonderful memories. He was an awesome uncle!

My family (the Omar Free family) horse showed with Pee-Wee for many years. He helped me many times with the finer techniques in Western Pleasure events. He and my dad were great friends. I have many wonderful memories of him. I am sorry for your loss. Judy (Free) Roberts
We read about Pee-Wee's death and are so sorry. He was loved by everyone in Searcy AR who knew him and when he moved he was missed by so many people. Our prayers are with the family at this sad time.
Mr. Salkeld was a real inspiration to me, as I sorted through early decisions of life.
Ernest Jr. and Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Pee Wee was a good friend, and always had a smile for everyone. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest in the Arms of Eternal Peace, Ernest, our dear uncle. Always with a kind word, a big smile, and a chance to tease one into laughter! That's the memories to cherish.
Love you always,
