John Oliver Staggs, Jr., age 82, of West Point, MS, passed away December 22, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Roller Swift Funeral Home Chapel in Osceola, AR. The interment will immediately follow at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens of Osceola. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial Funeral Home of Columbus, MS, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Staggs was born May 10, 1933, in Pottsville, AR, to the late John Oliver and Anne Belle Tedford Staggs. He served in the United States Army for several years. Mr. Staggs was a long time resident of Hollandale, MS. He retired from Protein Products as a welder and maintenance supervisor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Staggs and Lewis Staggs, and sisters, Rea Davis, Faye Lacy, Dorothy Beard, and Joyce Wilson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Noma Dye Staggs of West Point, MS, daughter, Jonie Tharp and her husband Tony of West Point, MS, sisters, Geraldine Delancy of Osceola, AR, and Nola Young of Bellville, IL, and grandson John Michael Stockton of Starkville, MS. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
