January 8, 1931 - September 15, 2015

Alma V Becknell, 84, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born January 8, 1931 in Custer City, Ok to Ed Bixby and Myrtle Polk Smith. Mrs. Becknell was a member of the Joiner Baptist Church where she was a pianist and Sunday school teacher. She had a master's degree in music from Henderson State University. She was a retired music teacher from the South Mississippi County School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Ray Becknell.

Survivors include: sons, Glen Ray (LeAnn) Becknell of Chanute, KS and David Earl (Shelly) Becknell of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Brandon Becknell, Walker Becknell and Luke Becknell all of Chanute KS, Alissa Becknell of Kansas City, MO, Brittny Becknell of Parsons, KS and Justin Becknell of Lepanto; great grandchild, Piper Meyer of Whitton, AR; two brothers Jimmy Smith of Dallas, TX and Wayne Smith of Cabot.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home in Osceola At 2:00 PM with Bobby Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brandon Becknell, Walker Becknell, Luke Becknell, Mike Bradfield, Donald Bradfield and Scott Smith,

Visitation will be from 12:30 PM till time of service.

Glen, David and family, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was a very dear Christian lady and she helped me a lot when I was pastor at Joiner Baptist.
