Alfred H. Byford, 67, of Wilson, AR passed away on the morning of July 8, 2014 in Jonesboro, AR. He was born on November 27, 1946 in Reverie, TN to Thurmond W. Byford, Sr. and Margaret L. Byford. He was the fifth child of a family of nine siblings, six boys and three girls. He went to grade school as the others did on the Island known as 35 or Reverie, TN. As he was growing up he liked to hunt and fish. The family moved from the Island to the town of Wilson where they have lived ever since. He liked to play football. After he graduated from high school, he moved to St. Louis, MO where he stayed with his sister before getting a job as a Bank Supervisor with Mercantile Bank in Downtown St. Louis. After working there for a number of years Al decided to move back home to Wilson, where he got a job as a line supervisor on third shift at the Crompton Plant. He worked at Crompton till it finally shut its doors. Al worked at Producers Rice Mill at Evadale before retiring at 65 years of age. He was preceded in death by his father Thurmond W. Byford, Sr., mother Margaret L. Byford, oldest brother Thurmond W. Byford, Jr., oldest sister Helen Doney Byford and next youngest brother Will Byford. He is survived by two sisters: Margaret Byford, Mary Byford; three brothers: Lester Byford, Homer Byford, Stanley Byford; four nephews: Michael Byford, Jackie Byford, Brandon Byford and Benjamin Byford and one niece Christina Smith. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2014 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home Chapel. I am so sorry about Al's death. I knew him very well. My prayers go out the family. He was a good hearted person. I went to school with him and he was one of my brothers best friends. Good bless you all.

Al hadn't seen you in a few years, but always asked about you to those that were close by. Had many good times with you at the Bassett Bar. Hope they have an excellent Karaoke machine for you on the other side. RIP my friend.
