September 19, 1952 - June 11, 2018

Mountain View, Arkansas - Stephen M. Koren Ret. USAF, age 65, died June 11th, 2018.

Steve is joined in death by his beloved father, Alfred and loving wife, Marlene. Steve is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Yancey, Son in law Matthew Yancey, granddaughter Anastacia Yancey, Mother JoAnne R. Koren, Brother Martin Koren.

Steve was a veteran of the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was born in Pottstown, PA to Alfred P. and JoAnne R. Koren; he has one brother Martin Koren. He grew up in Tennessee, as a child he loved to take things apart and put it back together. He worked hard as a teen in local grocery stores while going to high school and decided to join the Air Force at the age of 17, he spent 23 years in the Air Force doing what he loved most working on Air planes. In the USAF he found lifelong friends that would become family. He was featured on many T.V. shows on the Military channel, History channel and in a video at the Space and Aviation museum in Huntsville, AL. He wrote a chapter in SR-71 Blackbird Stories, Tales, and Legends and other chapters in other books plus articles. He did many interviews on the SR-71. He was stationed at Lockland AFB in Texas, Hahn AFB in Germany and Beale AFB in California. While at Beale he would meet his soulmate, Marlene and her children. Their love story was better than any romance you could ever read, watch or write about.
In 1992 Steve and his wife Marlene decided to move back to her home town of Mountain View, AR. We owned "Ozark Video" from 1993 - 2006, that brought us many wonderful memories.

In the years since he lost Marlene he worked a lot on cases in Mountain View trying to help solve many criminal cases. He was a great friend always willing to help someone in need. Most of all he was an amazing role model, father, father in law and grandfather.
Services will be held June 23, 2018 at 2 PM at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home 405 S. Peabody Ave, Mountain View, AR 72560.

Steve...it doesn't matter how many years have passed, or that we haven't remained in touch, shit happens within in a military life. However, seemed insignificant during that time. The fact is...we became family, a connection whether near or far that ascertained a forever friendship from what...chance happenings. We "ALL" were meant to meet under the circumstances, the military has blessed us to become a lifelong family, one that no matter where we ended up would still have that connection. Whether it be in person or long distance, that love within these friendships will forever touch and remain near and dear to our hearts. A sad day in our world that we no longer have you! A mentor, a friend, a man important to those that relied on you and whether we told you enough or not... completed us so many years ago and into today. Words are never enough to express this great loss to those that loved you. So until we meet again my friend. Party on...Blue Zoo Forever!

The world has lost an amazing and caring man who encouraged and inspired everyone who knew him. May the Lord give His grace and comfort to Steve's family, as they continue on this life's journey without his physical presence. Remember that you will be reunited someday, never to be parted again...

Steve-You were such a great friend. You always had a kind word and a funny story. I and my family were very blessed to have known you. I hope you know how many friends loved and cared about you and your family. You were definitely one of the good ones. Katie, your father was a blessing to our little community and he touched a lot of lives. I pray for peace for you and your family during this sad time.

Steve you are already missed by so many of us . When I had a late night and wasn't able to sleep I knew that you would be up and ready to talk about anything and everything . I know that when I posted something there would soon be a message asking me if I was having trouble sleeping. I will and already do miss our talks. My heat thoughts and prayers go up for your family and all of your many friends that you leave behind. I know that you are safe in the arms of the Lord and no longer missing your wife . If anyone ever got their wings I know that you my friend have them. Just seeing all the post of all the good that you done for people confirmed what I already knew . Rest my friend and we will talk again one day .

Steve, it was an honor serving with you in the 10th AMU “Blue Zoo” Hahn AB, Germany. We had some good times. I especially liked riding together in the expeditor truck working the pre-launch red ball responses. You will be missed. RIP Brother!
