October 1, 1935 - September 27, 2014

Linda Louise Rice of Mountain View passed away September 27, 2014 at Fairfield Bay, AR.

She was born on October 1, 1935 in Morristown New Jersey to Anne (James) and Theodore Klein Voss. The family moved to North Dakota and then to Chico, California where she completed school and attended college. She traveled the world with her husband eventually settling in Mountain View.

Linda was a homemaker, business owner, craftsperson, seamstress, and quilter. While in Amarillo, Texas she managed the ceramic shop on the Air Force base. She owned the Fabric Corner on Main Street in Mountain View. She later worked at the Ozark Folk Center in the dress shop making clothes and demonstrating the treadle sewing machine. She often joked how many miles she had walked on that machine. Linda was instrumental in the reinstatement of the Stone County Fair through her involvement in the Mountain View chapter of the B&PW club and served on the Fair Board. In her later years her disability limited what she was able to do, but she loved to quilt and shop.

She is survived by her daughters Michelle Lancaster and Cindy Rice, both of Mountain View and a brother Charles Voss of Chico, California. She has 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers William Voss and James Voss.

A Celebration of Life service will be Held October 9th at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Mountain View. Please come and share your stories and memories. The family asked that instead of flowers that donations be made to the Stone County Humane Society or Dorcas House and the Food Room.

Dear Family,

I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you in my prayers. Linda and Jim were great neighbors of ours and I can still remember their visits and laughing as our parents got together for coffee.
I was just last week thinking about Linda and that I had not heard from her in a while.

Today I can see our parents again in a great reunion. Still laughing and waiting for us to join them.

Love and Prayers,
Sonja Lawrence Jessen

Linda was a sweet lady who always had a friendly word when we met. I first learned to know her at the library but we always had good conversations when we met in recent years. May God comfort each of you during this time and the days to come.
