Daniel Lee Christen

of Mountain View, AR

April 11, 1940 - December 30, 2017

Daniel Lee Christen passed away at the age of 77 on December 30, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born to Charles and Mildred Christen on April 11, 1940 in Rockford, Illinois. He grew up on a farm in Rockton, Illinois, where he was actively involved in 4H raising prize sheep and building tractors. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he met his sparkling blue-eyed, blonde-haired Love of his Life, Lorraine Marie Carr. Daniel transferred to LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was during that time that he married Lorraine Carr on June 2, 1962.

Daniel pursued his degree in various places, designing pumps and valves, and later traveling around the country doing sales and marketing. His love for travel led him to purchase his own truck and make deliveries for expedited freight with his wife Lorraine. Daniel was known for being actively involved with his family and church. He was a man of God who never varied in his principles. He was a church deacon, a Christian Service Brigade and Awana leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a church youth group leader.

He was predeceased by his twin sister Judith at birth. He was also predeceased by his daughter Constance on July 29, 2005.

Along with his wife Lorraine, he is survived by three sons, Mark, Craig, and Michael. He is blessed with eleven grandchildren.

Daniel finally retired in Mountain View, Arkansas, where he loved the music, the culture, the people, and the simpler, slower pace of life.

A visitation followed by a funeral service, will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Mountain View. Daniel will be buried at North Burritt Cemetery in Winnebego County, Illinois.

Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.

His daughter, Connie, and I were best friends and sisters-in-law. Which didn't make Dan family, not exactly, but I considered him to be so. He was a really great man and I enjoyed knowing him. He was an amazing man of God, and from where I sat, he was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed terribly.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW
