Max J. Gammill, 77, of Onia, Arkansas passed away January 06, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. Max was born on April 27, 1939 in Timbo, Arkansas to the late Olis and Cleo (Goodman) Gammill. Max was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Fairview Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. On June 2, 1962 Max married his beloved wife of 54 years, Ruby (Lawrence) Gammill. Max worked for 30 years as the manager of the water department and prior to that worked as a rock hauler and in the sawmill industry. Max was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt; Max was especially fond of coon hunting. Max will be great missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruby (Lawrence) Gammill; one son, James Gammill of Onia, Arkansas; one daughter, Kathy Gammill of Onia, Arkansas; one brother, Burl Gammill of Fox, Arkansas; three sisters, Linda Boutwell and Mona May of Batesville, Arkansas and Shirley Brewer of Wichita, Kansas; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Olis (Goodman) Gammill; one son, Michael Gammill; brothers, Ray Gower, Ologie Gammill, Rubin Gammill, Conley Gower and Leon Gower; and two sisters, Louise Southern and Pat Weaver.
Visitation is Monday, January 9, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services are Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 10:00 AM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas with Brother Truman Bullard officiating. Interment will follow the service at Pordue Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are William Ash, Christopher Gammill, Jeffery Brown, Jarred Gammill, Dylan Greenfield, and James Gammill. Honorary pallbearers are Jordyn Greenfield, Ashley Jones, Katie Gammill, Johnny Gammill, Allen Gammill, Dean Gammill, and Burl Gammill.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home of Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
