January 10, 1933 - September 6, 2016

Howard Doyle Green was born January 10, 1933 at Rushing, Arkansas to Willis and Altha (Hinsley) Green. Howard died September 6, 2016 at Mountain View, Arkansas. Howard was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Annalou Elvena (Callahan) on August 11, 1953. He worked at Griffin Wheel Steel Company in Kansas City, Kansas, retiring after thirty years. After moving back to Arkansas, he and Elvena made their home on Turkey Creek and he worked at the Ozark Folk Center for fifteen years, where he retired again. Howard and Elvena only moved a few times in their sixty-three years of marriage, but no matter where they lived they always quickly found a church to be a part of. Howard was saved in his early thirty's and he and Elvena eagerly served in their local church. He was a deacon and an usher. Together they would serve as door greeters. Since living in Turkey Creek/Mountain View area, he has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View. Howard loved to fish, garden and spend time with his family. He was adored and loved by his family more than words can describe.

Howard leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Annalou Elvena (Callahan) Green; three daughters, Rhonda Maddeaux and husband Ralph, Sonya Byorick and husband Steve and Andrea Mason and husband David; eleven grandchildren, Steve Miller, Stephanie Miller, Stacey Brown, Jennifer Steed, Leigh Anne Crews and husband Marty, David Maddeaux and wife Haven, Hudson Byorick , Hayden Byorick, Christopher Mason, Aaron Miller and wife Jennifer, and Amanda Mason; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Hershel Green and wife Pat; one sister, Lorene Stanley; one sister-in-law, Teresa Green and other loved ones, including his wife, Elvena's, sisters and brothers, and their spouses, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends, who love this gentle giant.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Altha (Hinsley) Green; brothers, Hayden Green, Ewen Green and Oran Green; brother-in-law, Albert Stanley; sisters-in-law, Glennette Green and Joy Green; nephews, Russell Green and Albert Stanley; granddaughter, Madilyn Trammell; great-nephew, David Stanley and great-niece, Leah Browder.

Learning of Howard's recent passing was bittersweet. A taste of bitters in knowing Howard has temporarily left this earthly life and his family but sweetness in the knowledge Howard's absence from the body ment his immediate presence with the Lord who he daily loved and served. My most enduring memories of Howard includes his tremendous witness to his deep faith in Jesus Christ. Howard embodied all of the qualities referred to by the disciple Paul in his letter to the Galations, love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Most importantly Howard displayed these qualities through out all of his day. It is easy to be a Christian on Sunday in church. Howard was a faithful witness no matter where he was or who he was with. A finer man I have not known. Wishing his family Gods peace and comfort.
