Charles Earl Greenway (SR), 62, of St. James, Arkansas passed away December 2, 2014 at 8:32 p.m. at his home on Buckhorn Drive. He was born on June 20, 1952 to Elmer H. ''Sam'' and Lois Jean (Adaire) Greenway in Manila, Arkansas. He grew up in the St. James Community and graduated in 1970 from Mtn. View High School but was forever in his heart a Pleasant Grove ''Wildcat''.
After graduation he went to Kalamazoo, Michigan and worked for two years. He returned to Arkansas in 1972 and joined the United States Navy, he attended boot camp in San Diego, California taking Electrician School ''A''; he was then transferred to Bainbridge, Maryland in 1973 to nuclear power. He later went to Sarasota Springs, New York and on to Charleston, South Carolina to start submarine duty on the USS Tunny SSN 682. He would later serve on the James Madison Gold Sub.
After sub duty he became a navy recruiter, first in Little Rock, Arkansas then Batesville and lastly in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was called to sea duty in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After going there he took an honorable discharge and went to work in the state of Washington at a Nuclear Power Plant, as an instructor. He moved back to Arkansas in 1988 and worked some at the ''Knot Hole'' and had his own electrician business as well. He then worked at Connestoga Wood Specialties until he became disabled. Even after becoming disabled and until the end all he talked about was ''I want a job.''
He was preceded in death by both parents; grandparents, Earl and Myrtie Greenway and Charlie and Neva Adaire; one sister, Mirty ''Jeannie'' Oden; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by one son, Charles Earl Greenway, JR. of Mountain View, Arkansas; one daughter, Cynthia Jean Greenway of Florida Keys; one granddaughter, Isis Dale Greenway and one grandson, Bryar Samuel Greenway both of Mountain View, Arkansas; one sister, Hazel Jane Reedy and her husband Robert Eli Reedy of Mountain View, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, James A. Oden of St. James, Arkansas; two nephews, Samuel Allen Oden of St. James, Arkansas and Robbie James Oden of Tennessee; three aunts, Dorothy ''Dot'' Gayler of Mountain View, Arkansas, Faye Greenway of Roseburg, Oregon, and Faye Hancock of Manila, Arkansas; one uncle, Bob Adaire of Manila, Arkansas; one great niece, Danielle Elizabeth Oden and great-nephew, Daniel James Oden; two step-children, Scotty Ryan and Crysti Greenway; five step-grandchildren; two step-great nieces, Haley and Sissy, two step-great nephews, Josh and Bennett, and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mt. Joy Cemetery. A celebration of life and memorial will be announced at a later date.
