Hilda Baab

of Marshall, AR

June 26, 1922 - September 22, 2017

Hilda Baab, age 95 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from death into life eternal on Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at Highland Court in Marshall where she was a resident. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on June 26th, 1922 to George Baab and Marie Deiner Baab. Her parents were born of German descendents, living in Russia. They married in Russia but left for America aboard the ''Lusitania'' in 1911 before WWI. They settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in a German Russian settlement.

Hilda grew up on a fruit farm in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Her Father read the German Bible everyday to his family and he taught his children this prayer in German, ''Praise God my Father in Heaven, Amen''. Hilda contracted polio at age 2 and was very ill. As a teenager she and her sister, Elizabeth loved country western music and they sang as a duo on programs and won awards. Hilda also played the guitar. She graduated from Berrien Springs high school in 1942. She made the most important decision of her life in July of 1946 when she accepted Jesus Christ into her heart. She immediately started praying for the salvation of her siblings and saw God answer her prayer. Hilda attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, graduating in 1952. After graduating she made the statement, ''I can't do much, but I can play my guitar and tell people about Jesus''. She made the decision to come to Arkansas and in the fall of 1952 she joined North Arkansas Gospel Mission (aka) Rock Haven in Hasty, Arkansas where she served the rest of her life. Hilda served her Lord by playing her guitar, teaching Bible in the public schools, Vacation Bible Schools, Bible Camps and Sunday school classes. She was a member of Witts Springs Community Bible Church in Witts Springs, Arkansas. Hilda served alongside Jolena Stockebrand, in the Marshall area for over 65 years.

Survivors include one brother, Bill (Doris) Baab of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Elizabeth Nifong of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; and her ministry co-worker, Jolena Stockebrand.

Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Funeral services for Hilda will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24th, 2017 at Witts Springs Community Bible Church in Witts Springs, Arkansas with Bro. Jim Arnold Jr. and Bro. James Horton officiating. Special music will be performed by Phillip Persson, Bro. Jim and Sister Diane Arnold and Susan Sumers. Visitation will be 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery near Hasty, Arkansas at a later date. Pallbearers will be Tim McCarty, Tim Bartlow, James Horton, Larry Boyd, David Day and Doug Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Erling Damgard, The Ladies Bible Study Group and Rock Haven Members. Memorials may be made in Hilda's name to Rock Haven Ministries, PO Box 40, Hasty, Arkansas, 72640.

I hope Jesus tells this angel the enormous impact she & Ms Jo had on our lives & the many other children's lives they so faithfully taught about Jesus's love! As a young girl, Hilda & Jo, were the high lite of my Thurs at Pine Grove Church...& the ride home, Fridays at Marshall School, & Summers at Bible Camp. They were spiritual beacons for our hungry souls! I can only imagine the celebration she is having with Ms Jo, all heaven's host, & our Lord as He says, "Enter in My Good & Faithful Child!"

As a child, I so enjoyed learning from this dear Saint. While on this earth, she could have never known what an impact she had on so many. Oh how I looked forward to when she would come to Leslie School. Every week with a new Bible Story, and new verses to learn. I know when she entered in, she heard, "Well done my good and faithful servant..." I pray the Lord's peace and comfort for her family and friends

I remember with such admiration these ladies coming to Witts Springs to my classroom; the children loved it! I feel God must have a wonderful place for both Ms Hilda and Ms Jolene in Heaven!

Saddened to hear of Ms Hilda's passing. Loved her & have so many childhood memories of her at church, school & the beloved Rock Haven Bible Camp. She was a big part of my childhood & my spiritual growth. There were never two more special Godly women than her & Ms Jolena. God has his arms around both of them now.
