Alta Delain Pemberton

of Mountain Home, AR

December 24, 1938 - May 11, 2012

Alta Delain (Guthrie) Pemberton, age 73, departed this life on Friday, May 11, 2012 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born on December 24, 1938 in Dongola, Arkansas to Hobert and Arbie (Switzer) Guthrie. On February 02, 1955 she married Jim Pemberton and to this union two children were born, a daughter, Debra Ann and a son, Johnny Wayne.

Alta was a homemaker and mother and enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband and son while they worked in the drywall business. She was especially fond of Memphis, where they lived several years. Alta grew up an only child after the death of her two infant brothers. Her "adopted" brothers and sisters were her cousins, Uncle Jack and Aunt Maybell Smiths children, who lived just up the road from her. She spent many happy hours playing with them and always liked to tell stories about all the fun times they had together.

Alta was of the Pentecostal faith. She went through many struggles and sad times in her life, including the loss of her husband to cancer at a young age and the health issues she faced later in life. She never lost faith in God and knew that He would see her through everything. During the last days of her illness, she said many prayers with the nurses and family that were taking care of her. It gave her peace. She seemed to know her time here was drawing to a close and was able to accept it.

Alta loved to crochet and was very talented at it. She made many beautiful doilies, afghans and her special little dolls that she crocheted outfits for, which many of her friends were blessed to receive as gifts when she wanted to thank them for something or just to give them a little gift to let them know she cared about them. She loved working in the yard and had a "green thumb" when it came to growing flowers. She loved her family and especially her granddaughters and her great grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face when they came to visit.

Alta was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, two infant brothers and her husband.

Survivors include one son, John Pemberton of Mountain Home; one daughter, Debbie Barron and husband Robert of Yellville; two granddaughters, Stacy Walton and husband Greg of Jonesboro and Jennifer Holmes and husband Zac of Mountain Home; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Walton, Sam Walton, Levi Holmes and Kyle Holmes; two sisters-in-law, Nell Richardson and Mattie Jo Wilson and husband Estes; one brother-in-law, Sam Pemberton and wife Pat; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also mourn her passing.

Services for Alta Pemberton will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 14, 2012 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Robert Barron officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Sunday, May 13, 2012 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Debbie & John, My heart goes out to both of you during this time of sorrow. I know it hurts and always will. But it will get easier. As long as you keep her in your heart and memories you will always have her with you. Just remember you have another angel in heaven watching over you and loving you. Please find peace and love in the lord, your family and friends.
