of College Station, AR

December 3, 1920 - June 20, 2017

Roy Heifner, Sr., 96, of College Station, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at home.

He was born December 3, 1920 in Green County, Arkansas to the late Cora Lee and Richard Heifner. He worked hard beginning at an early age in the fields for his family. He was the baby brother to his siblings.

He leaves a whole family behind to cherish his memory and remember his stories about jumping into the lake to catch ''the big one'' and managed to keep his billfold dry the whole time. (We think he actually fell out of the boat!)

He was a commercial fisherman who specialized in catfish big enough that the grandchildren thought they were whales. He enjoyed camping and fishing for crappie in his spare time. He worked in construction for years as a driller or ''powder monkey'' drilling holes into rock; he sacrificed his hearing to that job.

His wife, Myrtle, passed in 2005. He still has two sons, Richard Heifner and Roy Heifner, Jr; three daughters: Teresa Butler, Flossie Gourley, and Lilly Payne; 31 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren; two older sisters, Mamie and Pat; and his beloved dog pal, Marley.

He will be honored at a funeral service at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 26, 2017 at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209, (501)455-5800. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon before the funeral.

My sincere sympathy to each of you for your loss. Psalms 90:10 says that the usual life span is 70 or 80 years. When man was created, it was God's purpose that he would live forever. Romans 5:12 explains why death and sickness occurs. His purpose has not changed. He assures us that he will restore life to all who are in his memory right here on earth under the best of conditions.

John 5:28,29
Psalms 37:29

Grandpa,

You taught me a lot in life. I will always remember the memories you left behind, from camping and fishing in the blue bus with you and Grandma Myrtle, Bill and Frances and spending time on the Mississippi River as well as the cabin in Bigelow. I remember that 'big one'...
man those were the best childhood memories!

God blessed a lot of us in life by giving you to us. A whopping 115 lives that you are responsible for in this world..you da man!

Sure hate to see you leave this world but I know you are enjoying your journey on the other side with those that left this world before you.

Thank you for being the man you were.
You will never be forgotten.

Love you for than words can say,
Your Granddaughter,
Crystal Heifner May

Memories are precious and I have so many of my stepdad, "Dick" He loved my mom so much and gave her a good life. I pray that God will give comfort to Richard Lee, Roy, Teresa, Flossie and Lillie Mae. He lived a long life, caught a truckload of fish, and grew some of the best vegetables I ever ate! No more suffering and pain. Love to everyone. Louise
