Sammie Carroll Loftis, 74, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was born February 1, 1942, to Ray and Vera Loftis.
Sammie loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Holland and Sherry ''Diane'' Castleberry; and one brother, Ronnie Loftis.
After fifty-two and a half years of marriage, he had to leave the love of his life, Velma ''Donnie'' Loftis; two daughters, Janice New (Lane) and Sandra Pettit (Gary, Sr.); one son, Jeffrey Loftis (Jennifer); eight grandchildren: Leighton Barnhill, Stephanie McElroy (Aaron), Logan New, Gary Pettit Jr., Cameron Loftis, Cora Loftis, Amanda Pettit, and Jurnee McDaniel; one sister, Veronica ''Kay'' Sanders; three brothers: Ray Loftis (Phyllis), Gary ''Steven'' Loftis (Paula), and Terry ''Timbo'' Loftis (Phyllis); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sammie grew up and attended school in England, AR. He worked at Afco Steel as a welder and retired after thirty-three and a half years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shannon Hills. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. But most of all he loved his grandchildren!
He was a loving son, brother, husband, daddy, and papaw. We all love him dearly and will miss him immensely!

Words cannot describe how much I hated to read about Sammy! He was not only my friend, but my best first cousin!! He was always there for me and my family!! We loved him more like a brother!! Tommy and Sue are out in the dessert, and me and Pat don't drive much anymore, so we may not be with you guys Wed., but you will be in our hearts and prayers, as you are now!! I'm so sorry Donnie and all of you!! Love you, Peggy
Sammie was a very kind , Christian conservative man. He always managed to make me smile.
The world will be less without you , but heaven has another heart of gold.
You will be missed.

The Allison Family
Uncle Sammie was such a good man. Always in a good mood, always kind, always smiling. I'm so sorry that he is gone but I am glad that he is in a better place and he is free of pain. I will miss him terribly.
On behalf of AFCO Steel, I want to tell Sammie's family that we appreciate you for sharing him with us for 33 1/2 years.
My heart is sad with the loss of this wonderful man ! Living 2 doors down and my Emily growing up with Jeffrey and Sandra and Janice. Loving and knowing Sammie and Donnie all of these years, and watching our grown kids turning into giving us our grandchildren. I will miss waving at Sammie sitting outside when the weather gets warmer. I saw a message the other day and it said " Fear not death as it is not the end, but rather a new beginning. God said it and I believe it. Many prayers to this family !
Love, Beverly
Heaven received another angel. Uncle Sammy was my favorite uncle. Didn't matter how old I was, he still expected me to sit in his lap when I would see him. Prayers for all.
May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences.
I am so sorry to hear about Sammie --- he was truly a favorite of mine.

A great man who has gone on to a great place, prayers of healing for family and friends.
I love you so much Papaw. I treasure our memories together. When you would sing to Leighton and I while driving in your pickup truck. My favorite song was old El Paso. I also remember sitting on your lap with my arm wrapped tight around your neck. You would ask me if I loved my papaw and I would say NO! I love me memaw, all while hugging you tight. I will always be a Papaw's girl and treasure you naming me Stephanie Renee. I am thankful you were able to attend mine and Aaron's wedding. I love you and miss you, but happy you are no longer hurting and in heaven.
