Victor Clinton Moody, age 86, of Benton, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 21, 2015, following a brief illness. He was born June 22, 1929 in Bald Knob, AR, to the late Powell Clayton Moody and Myrtle Holder Moody. Victor retired from the Arkansas Highway Department after a long career, and was a member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church. He was known for his kindness and gentle spirit.
Victor was preceded in death by his loving wife, June P. Nalley Moody. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Marcus Moody of Benton and Becky Moody of Vancouver, WA, stepson Louis T. Nalley Jr. and stepdaughter-in-law Margaret Nalley of Little Rock, stepdaughter Phillis Newmann of Aubrey, Texas, sisters-in-law Willene Lawhon of Little Rock and Janice Estes of Magnolia, many nieces and nephews, and childhood friends Wendell Chesshir of Sherwood and Herbert Joe Edom of Searcy. The family would like to express a special thank you to Louis and Margaret Nalley for their loving care of Victor since the passing of his wife, to Bonnie and Tommy Hooks for their loving care in his last days, and to the wonderful staff at Mt. Carmel Community in Benton.
A graveside service was held at 3:00 PM Wednesday on Sept. 23, 2015 at Pinecrest Cemetery, 7401 HWY 5 N in Alexander, with Pastors Max Pyron and Ted Stanton from Geyer Springs Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were in the care of Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, (501) 455-5800.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Geyer Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Moody was one of my first supervisors at the Highway Department some 27 years ago. His knowledge, attention to detail, and patience had quite an impact on myself as a young, know it all-recent college graduate. In the the time that I spent in Final Estimates, I called each of the other supervisors by their names (Gary Joe, Stan, Rita), but Victor was always MR. Moody to me! I hope that he would be proud to know that the green horn engineer finally made it to District Engineer.
