October 14, 2017

Earnest E. Perry, 97, was born August 20th, 1920 in McPherson, Arkansas to Elmer Elec Perry and Delilah Elzady Marchant. A veteran of the Army who served during World War II, Earnest also worked for the Mountain Home Public School System for thirty-six years.
Earnest started raising cattle when he was twelve, and this became a lifelong passion. Known as Papaw by his grandkids, he also loved baseball and fishing, and even owned a local pool hall when he was younger. His greatest joy in recent years was welcoming any and all visitors to his home and listening to and singing old gospel songs. He was proud to be known as the oldest Perry boy. After dealing with Alzheimer's for several years, he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 14th, 2017. He was a blessing to his entire family and all who knew him.
Earnest is survived by his wife, Norma Allene Perry; three sons David (Diane) Perry, Wes (Terry Long) Jolly, and Robert Jolly; two daughters: Jane Ketchum and Elizabeth (Jim) Derrington; one brother, Charles Perry; and two sisters: Rose Thorne and Willa Mae (Henry) Shearer. Earnest is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren.
Earnest is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Rudolph, Jim, and Harlan Perry; one sister, Reathel Perry; first wife, Ann Hargrave Perry; one granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Derrington; and one son-in-law, Bob Ketchum.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 17th at Roller Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 8 pm, with family in attendance from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 18th at Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Baxter Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer following the funeral service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
