George Dwight Price, 85, passed away Friday September 08, 2017 in Winslow, Arizona enroute to the final adventure of his life with June Price. He was born March 11, 1932 to George and Delia Price, their only son, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
George Dwight Price graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Pittsfield, Massachusetts and went onto serve his country in the Air Force; a veteran of the Korean War. George and June Price were married at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Averill Park, New York on August 21, 1955 and from this union there was the blessing of four children.
George Dwight Price's education included Hudson Valley Community College 1955-1957 where he attained an Associate Degree in Automotive Engineering and the University of Bridgeport 1957-1967, where he completed 3.5 years towards a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His professional education included: Detroit Diesel Allison School on 250-C28 and C30-1977, Aviation Power School on 501-KF, JT-8, JT-3, Turbomeca, 250 Engines, Garrett 731 and 331 Engines. His professional publications include American Society of Metals 1990 Conference, Co-Author -Society of Automotive Engineers 1990 Eastern Conference, Co-Author: 1. Development & Evaluation of a Repair for Saddle Cracks in a Radial Flow Turbine Wheel. 2. GTCP-85 Bearing Carrier Restoration -American Society of Mechanical Engineering 1991, Co-Author; Development of Repair for Annulus Groove in a Radial Turbine Wheel.
His career as an Aerospace Engineer allowed him and June to travel extensively throughout the world, as well as living in different areas of the United States. Though his true calling in life was fishing, which lead him to retire to Mountain Home, Arkansas. George was a parishioner at St Peter the Fisherman Parish, a devout Catholic and a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. George was active in Parish activities, being always ready to help with fund-raising and giving back to his community.
George Dwight Price is survived by his wife, June, a son, Dwight Price (Cathy), three daughters, Candace Price (Robert), Sheryl Campbell and Linda Wakefield (Tim), five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild and his sister Jane Ellis. Those predeceasing George were his parents: George and Delia Price, sister, Ruth Price and son-in-law, Mark Campbell.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Nobert Rappold, Celebrant. Interment will be private.
