Marshall Carroll (M C) White, age 87, long-term resident and business owner of M C White Construction Co in Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Mountain Home. He was born July 4, 1930 in Nashville, TN to William J B White and Daisy Mae Hartfield. M C was a long-time member of the Eastside Baptist Church.
While he started his business in Memphis, TN, he moved his business to Mountain Home, Arkansas in the 1980's. While in TN, he was appointed to the Board for General Contractors by then Governor Winfield Dunn. He also was on the Board for the Cement Masons in Memphis. He was elected as President of the Memphis Association of General Contractors in 1973.
He also had a business in Henderson, Arkansas known as Wilderness Point Campground. He, Judy and their children put everything they had into this business to make sure that their guests were having fun and enjoying Lake Norfork and all it offered.
M C was an advocate for his community. He had a hand in developing and building the Mountain Home Christian Clinic. This was a real love of his. He was on the Chamber of Commerce Board and the Board of Baxter Day Service Center. He won the 1999 Vada Sheid Community Service Award and the 2007 Opal Award for Distinguished Community Service from the Chamber of Commerce. He was named the ''Lay Volunteer of the Year'' for his work at the Clinic. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Mountain Home Salvation Army.
M C is survived by four children: Marsha Brown of Somerville, TN, Steve White of Memphis, TN, Tommy White of Henderson, AR and Kevin (Mary) White also of Henderson, AR. He is also survived by a special friend, Rose Matta of Mountain Home. He is survived by five grandchildren: Kristi, Jason, Andy, Shana and Dayna and ten great grandchildren: Sophie, GG, Shephard, Hayden, Hattie, Hamilton, Brea, Bella, Liam and Luella. M C was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Judy, his second wife, Billie and oldest son, Michael.
Pallbearers will be Tommy White, Kevin White, Jason White, Andy White, Joshua Whiting, Ryan Marx, Perry McDonald and Gary Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers are John Dillard, Boyce Rorie, Steven Dewey, Eddie Goodwin, Lindley Ruebin, Dr. Paul Wilber, Gordon Barton, Leon Ruebin, Carl Albright, Dwight Gibson, Hayes Hendricks, Phil Ramey, Jakie Barrett, Roland Gilbert, Paul King.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Eastside Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Crawford officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am until 12 pm, July 15, 2017 at the Church. Interment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastside Baptist Church or Mountain Home Christian Clinic. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home. I worked for MC several years ago, and he always respected me and treated me fairly. So sorry for the family's loss...he will be remembered as a good and fair man.
