Mr. Henry John Bode, 82, of Mountain Home passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born September 12, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Harold H. and Theresa V. (Birginski) Bode.

Mr. Bode spent 19 years as a switchman with the Santa Fe Railroad Company. He always remained an avid train enthusiast. In 1971 he moved to the Twin Lakes area and owned and operated Henry's Resort in Oakland, Arkansas. Other joys in his life were hunting, fishing and golfing.

Mr. Bode is survived by his wife Carolyn Bode of the home, one son, Henry Bode, Jr. (Kim) of Wichita, Kansas, two daughters, Theresa V. Hall (Ron) of Gassville, Barbara Gould (David) of Greenwood, Arkansas, two step-sons, Troy Thomas of Jane, Missouri, Kevin Thomas (Leslie) of Jane, Missouri , thirteen grandchildren, Jake Bickford, Leeanne Scott, Samantha Bode, Joshua Bode, Ryan Bode, Natalie Gould, Madeline Gould, Madison Foster, Michael Foster, Mitchell Foster, Trenton Thomas, Dustin Thomas, and Kyle Thomas and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, George Bode of Cresthill, Illinois and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilbur Bode.


The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend Norbert Rappold as celebrant. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.

Our family had great times staying at Henry's Resort and fishing with him on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas.
