December 12, 1923 - October 3, 2016

Monday, October 3, 2016 James Franklin Holland Sr. ''Jim'' passed from this world and joined his wife Patsy Jane Cranfill Holland in their eternal home in Heaven.

Married for 62 years, Pat and Jim raised 5 children James F. Holland, Jr. Judy (John) Bridges, Jannice (Dwight) Savage, Pam Soliman, and Lesa (Andrew) Palmer. Jim and Pat left a long legacy of 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Durant Oklahoma on December 12, 1923 to Robert William Holland and Juda Grace McCormack. Jim was the third of four children; Wilma Elliston, Wanda Risner and Robert Freeman. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings, his son James Jr. and Grandson Ahmed Soliman.
Jim was a true servant to God, his family and his Country. When he was just 17 years old, Jim ''fibbed'' so that he could enlisted in the Army, after 2 years he enlisted into the Air Force, where he perfected the art of making ''Holland potatoes''. After over 24 years in the military and serving in World War II and the Korean War, Jim retired from the Air Force with a rank of Master Sergeant. After his distinguished military service, he went on to work for Big Three/Air Liquide America where through hard work he worked his way up in the company to Regional Manager, and retired from them after 27 years.
During his military career, Jim and Pat lived in many States across the U.S. as well as internationally in England. After his retirement, Jim and Pat settled in Mountain Home, Arkansas and he has been a long time resident. With a God-given heart for others, he could always be counted on for tireless prayers, encouraging words, and the shirt off his back. He shared his belief in Christ through his work with the Church, volunteering, serving as Deacon in many Churches throughout the years, including his Church in Mountain Home, First Baptist Church. He also served with The Gideon's International for over 40 years.
Jim had many interests, especially genealogy which he practiced for many years. In his younger years, Jim and Pat enjoyed gardening and had quite the vegetable garden, which he gladly shared the harvest with his neighbors and friends.
Jim will be remembered by his family and friends as a loyal, kind and honest man with a true servant's heart. We find comfort in the fact that we will see him and Pat one day in heaven.
Memorials may be made to Gideon's International or the First Baptist Church Mission Program.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. A visitation will be Thursday from Noon until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.

Condolences to the Holland family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says God, "heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds." May God bring you comfort and peace.
