John Perry Markley, age 78, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in Mountain Home. He was born March 9, 1938, in Huntsville, Arkansas to Edgar W. and Viola (Robbins) Markley.
Mr. Markley worked for 30 years with General Motors. He served in the United States Army. He married Lurlene Ragsdale August 26, 1955, in Huntsville, Arkansas. He was a member of Emmanuel Church. He was a classic Chevrolet enthusiast. He guided on local rivers out of Rosie's Trout Dock. He ran the Saturday night fishing tournaments on Bull Shoals Lake until 1999.
Mr. Markley is survived by his wife Lurlene Markley of Mountain Home, a son Randy Lee Markley of Mountain Home, a daughter Cheri Lynn Hill and husband Brian of Perryville, Arkansas, two sisters Molly McAllister of Harriman, New York and Elizabeth Dodson and husband Jim of Cabot, Arkansas, a brother James David Markley and wife Glenna of Huntsville, Arkansas, three grandchildren Jonathan Hill, Jacob Hill and Jennifer Markley and a great grandchild Tyler Bartkowiak and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sheila Annette Markley and a grandson Jason Markley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Roller Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Sexton officiating. A visitation will be Saturday from Noon 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends frome 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Church or a charity of choice.

We are so saddened for your loss. Words can't express what your friendship meant. J.P. and Sam go back a long way and have had some very good times fishing and hunting. To all the family our prayers are with you. He will be greatly missed. We love you.
