We have two ways of remembering people who leave us and start another journey. We cry over their absence and smile over the countless good memories that remain.

I’d like to share some of my memories of Elly. She was a good friend to my mother and father, who were her neighbors in Fawn Park.

She loved animals and loved to watch all the wild birds at her bird feeder in the backyard..

Some might call her stubborn, but I prefer to portray her as a spunky lady who liked to do things her own way.
She was independent and self sufficient for as long as she could be, but then relied on the help of friends to get her over the rough spots. I believe this is why she lived to the ripe old age of 90 years, because of her strong will.

Elly had a giving nature. She volunteered her time and skills to help nursing home residents by making lap blankets with a group of women at St. Peter the Fisherman parish.
She also enjoyed her little dog SNOOPY, who was her best buddy.
When ever I was visiting my folks in Mountain Home, Elly always made a point of taking a walk with SNOOPY and stopping by our house for a visit, to catch up on what was going on in my life. It was always great to see her.

Elly was a good friend to my mother after my dad passed away, offering companionship and comfort. I’ll always be grateful for that.

I hope that whatever help I have given to Elly over the years, has repaid her for the help she has given to me.

I was fortunate to be able to visit with Elly at the nursing home in July and then again in September.

When I stopped by the nursing home to say our final goodbye, I was crying. Goodbye is hard to say. But Elly just said to me .... “see you soon”.

So I hope that as an angel she can see me now and knows how much she’ll be missed.

Those we love don’t’ go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near.
So Loved, So Missed, So Very Dear......
